Stand up and be heard! Where are you? I know some have received their Bullberry Barrels...Myself included(sitting on my but debating some things on mine) And I am reading a little about some McGowan's being built and shot. Please stand up and be heard..How do they shoot? BUT where are the rest of you in progress of your new build? What are some (if any) of the problems you encountered? What can you do to help us avoid these problem's? What loads are stating to show promise? what work's? What work's better? What was a waste of time? Please share you're information. Since I started this I will be the first to post about my new Encore/Pacnor barrel/bullberry barrel. Overall I must say I am very impressed with all the machine work I received . But here are some observations 1. I waited 5 months for my barrel. But expected this in advance 2. I very adamantly stated what I wanted NOTHING printed on my barrel, However the company printed every disclaimer they could muster up. UGLIED IT ALL UP! Not actually printed but "laser engraved"... I was so upset that it went on my safe for 2 weeks. And then I called a senior board member and asked his advice on what to do. There is great hope. So I have found a way to remove it and so far it looks quite good. I am convinced I will be happy with the results...And I am VERY picky. 3. I think I would not order the standard Encore scope base pattern...these 4 holes are closer together than other rifles. I think it wouldn't hurt to spread them out to a Rem or Savage pattern. 4.If doable I would have had them machine it to fit a Savage breach plug. again IF doable. I just like them better... And they are already setup for vent liner's Let's here about your's Drop

Well this is my build update, sent hillbill my 700ml,He popped barrell off dismantled reciever and took it and a new 25.00 callahan recoil lug and blasted them both. I ordered two savage breechplugs@ 35per and hunter boltnose kit 85.00. My pacnor 26" daved 1in22 twist .45cal with drop is ordered and is due "like a baby" the firstweek in august540.00. If HillBill gives the thumbs up on his new vortex viper scope then he will get another one in the mail to mount on my gun. Bill don't let your boy open my packages...!!! Stock wise I'm looking at the Bobby Hart aluminum blocked LRT target laminate. Bill has located and purchased the bottom metal 75.00 needed for a 700 bdl stock conversion for me,"I had no clue". 700 converters take note!!! I still need to order stainless action screws 10.00. Bill has tweeked my trigger to as smooth as can be . AND THATS WHERE I"M AT. Worn out, Greenhorn

dern.... And I thought I was on a roll.... It will be an eternal wait until that barrel gets here..I know I have waited on two of them to arive. Worse than waiting for a new kid to get here...lol. But now I have learned some patience..at least a little. So Greenhorn by your post we now know to get the metal for the bottom of the stock ahead of time. This along with other knowledge will help others avoid waiting time. I have a amall update on mine. Today I was able to remove ALL of the unwanted laser engraving from my bullberry barrel. It turned out as close to perfect as possible. So now I am going to order ring's and bases. And should be able to testfire it sometime next weekend. I have mixed emotions about bases..I like Warne steel bases..But the Leupold steel one piece looks good also..But requires 2 dovetail ring's..Are they available like that in a pair? Or do I have to buy 2 pair to get them ? I will probably settle in on the Warne as I have had very good performance from them . So keep up the good posts. As soon as I can get the photos off my phone and uploaded I will post them here Drop Drop

The leupold rings are avail in a set called double dovetail in low med. and high . These are my favorite rings . I do not like the rings with windage screws ,just something else to come loose!

The McGowen barrels that have been shot so far are shooting great groups even though most or all are not pillared/bedded as of yet. But I can say that getting this far working with McGowen has been a bumpy road.

Very Bumpy, it took a while but mine shoots great and it is not pillard/bedded, it will pillared but not sure about bedding yet this stock fits really well, it is stiff, very stiff as it is the 700 ADL beaver Tail
Greg knows about the road we traveled with McGowen, mine went back to them after I got it for more machine work, only the hex plugs will work and of the three hex plugs I have only one will fit to allow closing the action so there seems to be some difference in the savage hex plugs also

Thanks Richard and Bill... Gun shop called wed and told me my base and rings are in... But for some reason he has been closed for the last couple days. I need to get a metal cutting countersink and a #21 drill bit and get the plug's done... I know I am procrastinating like all get out.. Work is busting my butt... But the paycheck's support my habit's...
