Would anyone care to make a recommendation or two for a scope for a knight long range hunter? My main interests are good eye relief and durability. Magnification power is important but not the most important item. Thank you.

Want Fun,
Welcome. First I suggest you register to get the full membership experience here at this board. This is a great group of guys on this board and newcomers as well as seasoned veterans can learn a great deal from this bunch.
Its hard to recommend a scope without knowing what your budget is. Scopes are like anything else. You can spend what ever your budget will allow on one. I would suggest a good 2-7x32 or 3-9x40. Those will cover all your hunting needs at muzzleloader ranges. Good scopes can be purchasesd for around $200. The ones that come to mind in that price range are Bushnell Elite 3200, Burris Fullfield II, Sightron SII, and Nikon Buckmasters.

I took up your recommendation, and registered on the site. As you can tell, I am still trying to figure out how the site works (e.g., making replies. My price range is possibly wide $200 to $600, although I am unsure whether it really makes sense to put an expensive scope on a muzzleloader. That's one of that things that I am trying to figure out.

Are you looking for a holdover reticle or the straight duplex? I would look at the Sightron SII Big Sky series, the Nikon Team Primos or maybe a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40. If I was in your shoes this is EXACTLY what I would do. I would buy this scope www.swfa.com/pc-10618-1511-sightron-3-9x42-sii-big-sky-riflescope.aspx put Warne bases and Warne Maxima QD rings (med ht.) on it and never look back. There is a $50 rebate right now on the scope, so you could be COMPLETELY set up for less than $400, including Butler Creek flip open lens caps.

Your rifle is definitely worthy of a good scope. The good and the bad news. The good news is there are some very good scopes in your price range. Some are already recommended. The bad news is there is no clear winner and allot of recommendations are based on opinions! My vote would probably be the Zeiss 3x9.

I would go with a good Black powder scope. All the big named companies sell them. I ruined two high dollar scopes when I put them on a muzzle loader. I ended up putting a Bushnell Banner BP scope on an never looked back. Never had a problem since. As stated by another pard here, this is just my opinion from experience.
