I'm looking for an affordable 1 piece scope base for a round receiver Savage. Is there such a thing? Does a scope base from a short action Savage rifle fit?

Warne makes a good 1pc base for the money. Yes a base made for the SA round receiver Savage will fit.

I have a Nikon Omega scope I want to use. Can you measure the outside of the two rings? I want to be sure the scope will fit. Thanks

I just put a DNZ on my son's Stevens 200 308 and a redfeild scope. We need to get it sighted in and get some rounds down range to see how it holds up. I realy like the way it mounted up and it looks great.

I can assure you your not going to wreck a DNZ "Dednutz" scope mount. I have them on all my TC muzzleloaders and recommend them to all. They are made from a solid aluminum block. Natchez Shooters Supply carries them along with a few more online stores. www.dnzproducts.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=10

My scope is 4 11/16" between the bells. Can someone measure their Savage Dednutz mount to see if it will fit? Thanks.

I will have to disappoint you, 500cadillac- I had Nikon Omega that would not fit the DNZ Game Reaper due to extra eye relief and scope being so short. I settled on Buckmasters with the BDC reticle that was comparable to Omegas (if you have the reticle with them circles). It calls for regular type scope.

Talley seems to make nice stuff similar to dednutz, but they are 2 separate pieces for front and back, except for single shot actions.

I just stuck a aluminum EGW mount on a 10ML and in 8 shots it got pounded. It was a quicky install to test a rifle and I may not of gotten both rings seated against the cross slots but one ring did pound the mount hard. Shooter did have a EGW aluminum HD mount on his .45 700ML and that did work better. Going with a one-piece ring/mount set-up like the Deadnutz or Talley you loose the capability to quickly remove your scope.

I have the dnz on my ml, and the thing has been flawless. I think the quality is better than the tally base. They only have one height for savages, I have a 50mm monarch strapped in it and I have about 1/8" clearance at the bell.

I never mix aluminum bases with steel rings. Tactical style aluminum rings that are much wider are better suited for aluminum bases because of the larger clamping surface. But on any gun where weight is not a big issue steel bases and rings is the answer, even if it's only a .22.

Ive used steel rings on aluminum bases on some very hard recoiling guns. handguns are the worst for optics abuse. some dont take the time to install them correct and they get scope movement. make sure that the rings are pushed to the front of the ring slot, both rings. if they are not they will get there eventually at the cost of frustration on the range and possibly a ruined scope.

I have the Farrel one piece Picatinny steel base along with the Burris Aluminum tactical rings? It has been on the .50 for over 1400 shots and then when I switched to the .45, another 3500 shots and it has not skipped a beat! And that was with plenty of STIFF loads. Richard

You will not wreck the DNZ mount, it's milled out of a monolithic block of aluminum. Everything about it is overbuilt, it is the only aluminum mount I use, and it's ROCK SOLID.
They are sweet looking as well.
