I put the barrel on, fitted the bp, and the nose of the bolt kit. My buddy took care of rest. It only has about a dozen rounds through it so far. I just wanted to work up a few loads through the chrono and make sure everything was right. He got it sighted in at 100yrd quite nicely with the H4198, barnes, and smooth blue sabot. It was not a day for shooting groups on Sunday as we had 20 mph winds and it was almost 80 out. It seems like it will shoot just like the rest of the rem/pacs. Check this out though, he scored the factory 700ml used for $100, got the stock for $100, pulled the scope off his 220 swift, and I helped him on the assembly. So he has done this on a pretty good budget for his first muzzleloader!

I like the Duracoat. Do you know what color it is? I just got a Knight .45 Elite Duracoated in HK Black. I think it turned out pretty good. Looks like alot are going with the pepper laminated from Boyds. I may go with it also for my 700ML build. I cannot decide between it and the nutmeg. Decisions, decisions. Well my 700ML stainless I ordered thanks to some help from Dave D is in. Time to go get it from the gunshop. Darn NJ laws, they had to ship it to a FFL.

All this waiting is driving me nuts. I have 5 guns waiting for barrels, 3 Mcgowens and two pacnors.
I will have the perfect set of guns for comparison in the barrel dept, both rem 700s, both 26" 8 groove/ 8 flute barrels and will be very close to the same contour, so we will see who builds the better barrel. when I get them together (if I ever get barrels) I plan on a shoot off between the two. the results will be emailed to both companys..might be interesting...apples to apples

45omega - Not sure if its the FW or VW stock. He took care of that. I know he said he had to remove a little material but nothing major. Also I think the pac may be a heavier countour than the other barrel.
Hillbill - Lol, this waiting stuff is for the birds.... but you can gaurantee you will never see me preach to another man because he spends too much on guns or bullets! This gun is in the owners hands now though. Hopefully we can get together and do some seriouse shooting before long and post some targets. As far as waiting - hopefully the UPS man comes tonight with an encore/bullburry DD setup(28"pac) to the neighbors house. I am curious to see and shoot it. Also waiting for a stock to dry, so I can sand coat, and wait some more, pillar & glass bed, wait and then assembly and shoot my old sav/pac 45 dressed in new clothes. Also waiting for a stock on another 700ML project with a 26"pac. Just got it back from waiting on the black ice. Seems like it never ends.....

Hillbill: That should give a great comparison.

A good comparision would be unbiased shots & measurements taken by someone not involved with either barrel. Myself I think they will be comparable barrels as soon as Mcgowen gets past these few learning curves in the begining.
