OK, last week Herman was having very good luck with the following duplex load: 10/60.....N-110/H-322 with a blue Harvester sabot and a 200 gr. SST. I was impressed!
So, loaded up 20 shots worth for yesterdays range session.
Not wanting to waste SST's, I shot the load at 100 yards and as can be seen, it did sub MOA for five shots! NOT bad? Without further "a-do" I started on my 300 yard target but substituted the SST's. Using my varmint hunter reticle in the Leupold 6.5x20 I elected to go with the SECOND (info on ref. sheet wrong)
stadia line below center cross hair. This put five shots in 4.6" at the bottom of the bull. (second bull down on the left) I then shot a second group on the above bull but used the third stadia line. This put the group a few inches high but produce a 2.7" five shot group...........(much better)
Next I tried a duplex 10/60 but substituted AA2015 for the H-322 and shot the top right bull. The velocity dropped a good 125 fps but the group still stayed up top of the bull and gave a respectable 3.4" five shot group.
A second load that Herman shot last week was also on my list of "loads to try!" but my gun did not like it . I was shooting at the second bull down on the right..................The first shot using the third stadia printed way up the #4's group The velocity was also some 300 fps faster than the 2015 duplex. Judging the distance on my stadia lines, it appeared to be 8" between the second and third line. The next three shots I used the second line and super-imposed the first shot into that group. The velocities ranged fro 2910 to 3016 fps and you can see the vertical dispersion. I was really not comfortable shooting at these velocities.............Yes, Richard! I can see what these high velocities do to wear parts on my rifle and am convinced staying below 2900 is where to be. More like in the 2700 to 2800 range Therefore, only put four shots worth on the paper!
My last group was a scaled down duplex with 10 gr. of N-110 under 55 gr. of H-322 at 100 yards. The group was not impressive but the ES was fairly low. This duplex shot its best at 15/55.
Future playing using 4759 as a booster in varying amounts will be forth coming. I am also interested in trying some ball propellants as the secondary powder? Who knows?

(#2 should read: second stadia line)
