Hi Guys, I got it all together and hope to get you a range report in the next few days, depending on weather. I had a blast with this project and really learned a lot. Thanks to all the great fellas on this board, especially Fishhawk for doing a lot of the legwork for these conversions. A number of guys were wondering what these projects cost, here were the damages I incured. Not sure what scope it will wear, right now there is a Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 on it. SS Rem. 700ml- $150 McGowen Barrel-$285 Hunters Bolt job-$115 Boyd's Stock-$110 Timney Trigger-$125 Savage breech plug/liners-$35 Sub MOA-Priceless (I Hope)

It all adds up in a hurry, but in the end it didn't end up to bad. I also bought a Remington light tactical stock for it, but I chose to go with the Boyd's instead. So if anyone is looking for a great Light Tactical stock, pm me.

Hoz, Nice rig for sure!!! Did you have much inletting work fitting the barrel ? It really turned out good, go shoot some tight groups with it. Is sabotless in you and your girl's future plans? Glad you got it together, good luck with it, Greenhorn

Greenhorn,
Inletting was not bad. It was my first ever and I didn't have much trouble. It prolly took me about an hour. As far as sabotless, not yet. I am soooo new to the smokeless thing that I need to walk before I can run. I am learning more every day. Right now Duplex loads seem like a stretch for me.

Hoz, looks great! As best I can tell from the pictures it is a DMB#1 in a featherweight thumbhole. If so, after inletting for the barrel how thin were the flats on top of the stock where the barrel starts to taper 3" in front of the recoil lug?

Wow!!
That really does look great! There is something about a gray laminate and SS that just look so good together.

fishhawk- Yes it is a DMB#1 and a Featherweight TH stock. My caliper shows .10" give or take 3" in front of the recoil lug

Hoz. Looks great and if it shoots as good as it looks. Your've got a winner I'm sure there are a lot of people on the board waiting to see how the new barrels shoot. Wish you the best of luck you built a custom for what i'm see as a price that some people are asking for a standard Savage. Jon
