With new vent and cleaned barrel tried 11/54 N110/H322. Shot one fouler then the group. Good velocities but group opened up, too clean. Next shot Hermans suggestion of 13/53 N120/H4198 group tightened up. Thanks Herman, thats a good one.

Dennis..........it is refreshing to see someone else who is posting ALL their results vs. those that just showcase their occasional good group These guns just do not shoot bugholes every group. Some loads definitely have a tendency to groups better than others .............but even good loads do not always repeat themselves every time. What we do know is that there are a number of loads that are well capable of killing critters. An inch and a half five shot 100 yard group will kill just as well as a 1/2" group. Trying to get the groups smaller is just for the challenge of it. Richard

Yeah, it is humbling ;D. A couple of good groups, then things start to go south. Make another change then start all over again. But like you said, the challange of trying to repeat a bughole group keeps ya coming back ;D.

Dennis, The 11/54 group only had an es of 16fps compared to 82 with the 13/53 group. That #5 shot ? A bird flew over or something, lol. Other than that the first group looks good to me. Like you mentioned "Too clean" maybe better in fouled barrel. Thanks for the post always educational. In the quest for tightness, Greenhorn

Just for comparison , what power scope are you using ? IMO if you don't have the gun vised down there is going to be some human error in play with any group shot compounded with scope magnification differences. Let's say someone shoots a group with 4x scope compared to someone with a 10x which ones going to be tighter? The 10x of course. Anyway, I just thought that point needs to be discussed especially since the 200yd and farther groups will be shot more in the near future by other members. I have a leupold vari-x3 3.5x10 and after 100yds, I feel like I need more power for a tight shot. Wayyy too much coffee this morning guys, sorry for the ramblin. Greenhorn

Greenhorn i agree with you 100% ;D. I did put a new scope on about a month ago. I had a zeiss 3-9x40 which will go back on for hunting season but also felt was not good enough for shooting small groups at 100 yds. I recently put a Sightron Siii 8-32x56 Fine Crosshair Reticle.Instead of the orange dot being the point of aim at 9 power, its the black diamond inside of the orange dot.

dennis: That is a nice looking combo. On two of my MLs I have 20 power variables. It certainly helps on trying to get smaller groups.

Wow!!! Very nice rig!!! I see well you can't use optics as a group opener, lol. I am wondering what others are using? Looks like a poll should be set,I don't know how to do one but I think we would be comparing apples to apples group size wise, just MO Thanks, Greenhorn

Greenhorn..........my rig has a Leupold 6.5x20 with a 3.5X "BULZEYE" adapter. This pretty much brings my "X" count up to about 30X along with a SCOPE LEVEL to make sure everything is "square!" Richard

Richard, well..... no wonder you put up such great groups!!! Just kidding. I need to start saving up for some REAL glass now. Just for kicks see what you can do on 14x. Interesting, Greenhorn
