With the price of the already to high Pac-Nor barrels increasing the Savage barrels are looking more attractive all the time. Who has the Savage barrels now and what are your results thus far?

I think many will be getting their DMB 700ML barrels in the next week or so. I know Mike Dawson, MarkB371, and Dannoboone have theirs.

This has been a work in progress from them. Between Greg, myself and my parts they have made me a quality barrel. It is at Lee Black Ice, should be back in 2 weeks, then I will wring her out. It is a 26 in, 8groove. 1:22 twist,11 degree crown, pacnor #7 contour, fluted, chrome molly. It is for the 700 ML action, delivered to me for 386.00. The hand lapped barrel was as smooth as a new born's behind.
I ran some blue smooth harversters, barnes 195 loads hard but very smooth.

I'm reserving judgment for now. Haven't gotten mine to shoot anything like the PN barrel in my 10MLII, but I also have a quirk in the ignition system that needs to be addressed. It does group well within minute-of-deer, but the best group so far is just under 1 1/2". One can take an inch off that group for the Savage/PN rifle. This one is the 1:18 eight groove, 26" barrel. So far, it shoots lighter bullets more accurate, and seems to hate 200XTP's (the PN barrel isn't too crazy about them, either). Seems like my girls have more expensive tastes.

I found on mine that 200 xtp's like to be knurled up to 0.4015, it will clover leaf them. I had some new sst's that it doesn't like at all. And 275BE sabotless shot very well but were quite finicky. I haven't been out in a fees weeks but am getting the itch again, so maybe next weekend I'll run some more through it.
