I see lots of people use harvester sabots but does anybody use their bullets in a smokeless muzzleloader? I was thinking about trying the 300 gr. scorpion gold in my 50 cal. smokeless gun. Has anybody tried these ,if so , what where your results as far as acuraccy and performance on deer?

The harvester bullets are made for them by ranier I believe. They have a thin copper wash, and may or may not hold up well to smokeless depending on how fast you push them. If they hold up they seem to give very good accuracy.

Keep the FPS below 2300fps and they should perform fine on game unless its a really close shot. IMO the 300gr should perform well within these limits. I compared the 300gr PT to the 300gr SST and the PT did perform slightly better on media at sub speeds (2000fps) and accuracy was excellent.

This was my the 2nd group out of my NULA and the first group with the 260gr PT Gold today. The 2 on the right were with 41gr or N110 and a Harvester Smooth but IMO was too loose. I didn't like it since the .452 225gr FTX was shooting clover leafs with 44gr. The 3 shot group on the left is the PT Gold knurled to .453 (much better fit) and 44grs.

Ive shot them at sub speeds and they would not groups as well as the 200gr SST, GoldDots, XTPs or Barnes. IMO the new Nosler 200gr is far better and a fraction of the cost. Rainier used to sell them through Cabelas for less than $80/500 and Harvester would not give me a any bulk discount even if i bought 500. IMO they are WAY over priced at 38 cents each. New Noslers are about half that much and VERY accurate.
