Hi, I just joined and this is my first post. After lurking for almost a year and trying to get my sav 50 cal to shoot the way I wanted, I looked through the load notes and came up with 65 gr n120, knurled barnes 250 tmz with supplied yellow sabot and cci 209 mag primers. So far I've shot this on 5 different occasions from 40 degrees to 70 degrees and it has shot less than 1" everytime and no poi change. Average velocity is 2558 fps. This is just awesome!! Does anyone have an idea of pressure of this load? The gun is ss, boyds laminated t-hole, 3rd pillar, steel bedded, and Weaver classic 4-16. Thanks, JDMAX

jdmax...........That is some good shooting! As far as pressure? I could only guess that you are under 35,000. Nobody has been doing any pressure traces lately with the .50. I think ET has got his up and running and is supposed to do some testing this weekend. Don't know if you could convince him to run that load? As much as you have shot it, there is obviously no problem. Many have pushed the 250 gr. bullets to 2800 fps. You are more at risk double charging your ML than shooting warmer loads. It takes a lot of pressure to burst one of these. Welcome to the board Richard

Considering that 60 gr and a 300 grain bullet is a common load here, I would assume a few more grains of powder and a 50 grain lighter bullet is very safe.....I agree with Richard.
Glad you are shooting so well quickly

Haven't shot the 50 in awhile but have shot up to 69 grs of N120 in the 50 and 45 cal.Useing a 200 gr sst in the 45 and 250 sst in the 50.Didn't have any problems with either. Don't remember the speeds but think the 69 grs in the 50 was in the high 2600 fps.

Sounds awesome! Should be a fabulous load for deer. (But not from the deer's point of view).
