This has finally come to pass. It has been back and forth to Mcgowen because it was not right. They paid for the return and to send it back to me. The first time it came to me it was not head spaced correctly
Greg(Fishhawk) and I and Mcgowen have been working on this project for a while, over 13 weeks. It is a 26 in barrel, chrome molly, Callahan .186 lug, PacNor #7 contour, 11 degree crown, blued and flutted. It has the Savage Hex head BP as the old style will not work cause of the tool and this save the barrel maker a second cut. It has hunter's bolt mod. The barrel and action will be shiped off to Lee at Black Ice shortly. The stock is the Remington Beaver tail 700 ADL short action, it took a lot of sanding with a big dowel to open the channel up to free float the barrel back to the recoil lug. It has burris 2 piece tac. steel bases
I dont have any glass to mount right now but sometime this spring I will mount good glass to shoot it when it comes back from Black Ice. I can wait I have waited this long I can wait a few more weeks.
They now have all the measurements off this gun for you guys to get your barrels a lot quicker the me. The inside of the barrel has been hand lapped and it is a 8 groove, 1:22. the barrel looks really good.

Congratulations, Mike! Can't tell for sure because of the never ending wind since mine was finished, but it appears to be a shooter, with the limited shooting I've been able to do with it. A good rest at the range and a calm day will tell for sure.

Mike
She is one nice looking muzzle loader. With the patience to detail of having it properly put together I don’t see it not being a shooter. Look forward to future results.

My 18" twist, eight grove is wonderful. Boring to some degree. Some loads are frustrating makes me think of the old 50 cal with fliers now and than. I go back to Richards load, 4759/H322 and groups are always 1.5", many smaller. 22" is a better choice for bullets available, get some groups coming our way soon. Might want to go with a one piece base, some on this board recommended em to me?
