Well since I live on the end of the Pony Express run... my pwder finally came today, so I now get to add my thoughts....
When I first opened and looked at the powder... I thought hey! this looks a lot better than any other APP or JS Gold than I have ever seen. It is black and it is not kitty litter.
Scott mine did have a packet right on top so I expect yours is in the powder some place...
Smelling the powder - gives me the smell of Molasses... So the thought that it migh have been a smokeless - gone! I also take back my thought that it might have been a duplex... not happening!
I then read the labels as there seems to be a disagreement one one person that it might not say what it says... so I scanned it for everybodies reading. The load and projectile weight restrictions may be as any other company today is trying to do... cover their liability, so at this point I will follow the written word.
The next thing I did was to inspect the powder. It is my belief the powder is 99% black and the granuals appear to be for the most part the same size. I am not seeing the white that Sqezer has seen in his bottle.
Here is a pic of the open bottle of the powder...
Powder Comparison...
I broker out a 2.5cc Lee Dipper spoon and collected powder from the different powders I have on hand and then poured the dipper out on a piece of paper for comparison.
Triple Seven 3f appears to be the finest powder on the sheet follwed by (2) GOEX 3f, then (3) Triple Seven 2f, (4) BH-209, (5) JS Gold.... but I am telling you it not that much larger than BH and it the JS Gold is really uniform in size.
If the weather holds..... I plan on running to the farm in the morning and set up a 50 yard chrono target. I am going to shoot the new Big Horn with #11 mag Caps, 100 grains by volume of JS Gold, and a .458/220 grain Lehigh. Then repeat the activiy with T7-3f.
Problem... the forecast does not look good and I only have 20 of the Lehighs left.
Let you know tomorrow if I get the shooting done...
