Hello all! I have been lurking in the shadows reading everything I can on smokeless ML's, and boy is there alot to read . I work with Slufoot and have seen the results he and others are getting from their H&R conversions so after playing with the idea Robert said he would convert one for me. After looking for a used barrel for a while with no luck, Robert ran me down one Sunday evening and said he had bought a barrel for me if I wanted it ;D. I instantly said yes I'll take it. After receiving the barrel and ordering the bp he took the gun and worked his magic on it for me. I started with the frame from my 308 ultra that shoots a true 3/8" group at 100yds with a crisp 3.5# trigger. The barrel latched up perfectly with no modification necessary. My first shots thru the new conversion resulted in two blown sabots and the third was OK with a load of 6.6 and 47.5 5744/H4198 with a 200 TC shock wave and a baby blue Harvester. I scrubbed the barrel with hoppes and brush with patch for over an hour. Well I had a little time today before the rain and tried it again but this time I tried 6.3 and 49.5 (5744/H4198) with a 180gr XTP and it was good enough to get my scope closer to the center with a 1.2" group. I then checked my sabots and proceeded to go to 6.3 and 53.3 (5744/H4198) and my groups shrunk to .990 with no blown sabots ;D. I believe the group could have been better but I got excited because of the first two touching and pulled my third one low . I cannot wait to shoot it again when the weather clears.

I was going to ask why you went straight to duplex but it's hard to argue with that last target Good shooting Just trying what Slufoot and another friend are shooting. I have a few 200 xtp's and 200 sst's to try also. I will have to try and get some 200 xtp's when they become available hence the reason for the 180's. I will also be interested in trying the 195 barnes, but it gripes me to have to pay for sabots that will not be used.

Not to steal rangeballs info but I just bought some yesterday, ask for them in bulk with out sabots. They run $65 for 75, if you buy over $100 shipping is free.

That is one fine looking rifle. Looks like it shoots about as good as it looks as well! Wouldn't want to be a deer in your neck of the woods!
