Gentlemen, what is the max diameter of the orifice on a vent liner? .035? ? That is where most of us trash them, at .035. Rusty

Gentlemen, what is the max diameter of the orifice on a vent liner? .035? ? Don't think matters much if you develop loads within a reasonable range of diameter. If your load was developed at say .031 and it has worn to .035 then velocity is going to increase substantially due to getting more powder on fire at ignition and altering burn rates. I would say you need to keep the vent within .004 to .005 of the starting or your tuned load diameter.

Just remember, the bigger the hole in the vent, the more pressure is being sent back to the primer! That is the main reason for the small hole to start with. Richard

I like them to start at .028 and ditch them at. 031 or. 032
But I'm alone in that thinking. I'd go with what the wiseman advise.

When I use a converted rifle and a case as the primer I like 0.038 carbide vent as a good compromise.

Edge do you have any trouble with powder going through the bushing? Is that using large rifle primers or cases modified to use 209 primer? Jon
