We are seeing a few on our place so maybe I will score again. I will be hunting with my Mosberg 20 Ga slide action with No. 4 shot and the undertaker Turkey choke. It has always done a good job for me. I have a scope on it with the crosshairs in the middle of the pattern. Why20 Ga. and No. 4 shot? At 40 yards the 4s consistently put more pellets in the turkey head/neck target than fives or sixes. I traded in a .870 12 Ga. Express because for me the punishment out weighed to thrill of getting a turkey. Shooting side by side with my son using his Winchester 12 Ga and a turkey choke the 20 Ga. consistently beat his at 40 yds. If I can't get one to come in as close as 40 yards then I will let it pass. My son is supposed to come down and hunt a couple days with me. I am trying to learn to live without my wife by staying as busy as I can. A thousand times I have wished that I had been first to go. Tear ducks are flooding so I will close this and get to sharpening scissors, knifes or read. Ben

A Barred Owl call works very well in the Mountains of VA to get those Toms rocking the woods just before daybreak. However, it might be kind of hard to sneak up on those turkey's on the roost with snow on the ground unless your in white camo.
Ben, I use #4 shot in my 3 1/2" Mossberg 835 12 gauge. I have dropped a few at 45-50 yards. It only takes one #4 shot to the head or neck and they are down and flopping. Inside 25 yards they don't know what hit them.
