I think you shot good Soonover, this is a point I've made before about accuracy tests with ML's using the bullets we have to work with. By the ballistics calculator the 200XTP at .199bc with only 10mph full value wind = 7.6" wind deflection at 200yds. As this wind comes and goes or changes direction, who knows! True barrel accuracy reports are nearly useless with any wind at all with the low bc's we work with. I see the potential in the McGowen barrels knowing what the wind can do to groups, but others might look at the group size and discount the potential. Now if we had a high bc .40 bullet...

Crony is going the next trip, ES will be interesting to see on the 15/54 4759/H322. The way it kicks 2700 FPS is not out of the Question? For this load to shoot 1" @200 is beyond me, wow!
Thanks to all that have pointed me at the Polaris of muzzle loading, you men are always welcome at my campfire.

I'll bet that 54grs. of 4759 kicked like a mule. I've shot up to 45grs and thought that was enough. Maybe I need some ''Moose blood'' in me. Good shootin! What would the speed be on that load?

Spoonover...........Your doing real well with that barrel. And yes, the wind is a big problem with low (and even high) BC bullets. The wind effects them all...........just some more than others. I tend to do most of my testing for loads at 100 yards and at that, use a wind flag with daisey wheel, vane and tail to tell me whats happening. To test at longer distances when the wind is blowing, even a gentle breeze, for me? Is a waste of powder and bullets. As is evident on your target. At least if you have a couple of wind flags and then watch them, you have a reasonable chance for good groups. Keep us informed with your future results! And don't hesitate to show the not so good results also! This way, members can see what does and does not work! Richard

Smoke, have been reluctant to use the chrony. Need to get a shield for the sabots. With 50# of Lead Sled no recoil and you do not have to see my "not so great" bench rest skills.
Had this in my notes, McGowen is a 24". I think Richard posted- (195 Barnes with 54 gr. of SR4759 gave me an average of 2869 fps out of a 26" PN .45. It had decent ES of 27 fps)

use a shield on that crony... Look at the one you can buy. I have a crony type and bought some lexan from lowes scribe it myltiple time's with the back of a razor knife then pop it and break it..line up the holes for the rod's drill it..then clamp it to a workbench with a piece of wood like a metal break..heat it gently with a torch bend and form it..WALLA... cost about 10 bucks..But there is no wait. My son ruined his lcd screen the very first time he took it out.. I didnt have the heart to say I told you so... Drop
