Picked up a new Ruger varmit in 243 last week have only shot it at 100 yds but think it is going to do ok.Picked the ruger over the tikka and the savage because the ruger has a tad slower twist. Allready have a rem 243 and it shoots to good to be true. But with lighter bullets. Wanting to shoot the 95 gr bergers which I have on order and the 95 match sierra. I loaded up 6 loads with the sierras and they went a 1/2 inch for me,let my shooting buddie shot the other group and his went 1/4 in so I think it is going to do fine. Got some different loads worked up for tuesday if the weather co-operates.Even loaded up some 105 a-max to see how they would shoot.

Much praise, zero complaints with the .243 I don't understand why it is so accurate but it keeps proving itself. Ozark

Why would the slower twist be preferable with 100-105 grain bullets?

A slower twist is not preferable for these long bullets

Sorry fellows I didn't catch it> I ment faster twist. Rem= 9 1/8 Sav= 9.25 Ruger 9.0 The 95 match is a long bullet,My rem and savage wouldn't shoot these bullets very well. I loaded up some 105 a-max to try also. Thanks doug for catching my mistake.
