I thought that I'd start a new thread considering how the last one ran off the road. Probably my fault--sorry. Anyhow I received a call from Denny's Sporting Goods informing me that a case of Super Powder is on it's way today. It will be at Denny's shop sometime next week. The Salesman laughed when Denny asked him if they are out of business. So I take it that they're not. He did say that it IS a BP sub similar to BH209 only it will use 30% less powder to achieve BH209 speeds. So I guess that's an 80-85gr load to duplicate a 110-120 BH209 velocity. He said it is very similar in burn speed to IMR3031. I guess we'll have to see if it's all that it's cracked up to be..... just as all the BP subs that came along before.

Im most interested in the formulation and the cleaning requirements should give an idea. If it still cleans up with only water or if its needs are similar to BH209. Size and shape of the granules will be interesting too.

I have had good results with APP & JSG, more so with 3F than 2F, 2F was just to coarse to get consistent volume measure unless you weigh each load. If its more like 3F I'll give it a try.

They (APP) are supposed to send the Tech sheets with the case.

APP has a sit back up. No mention of Super Powder.
Midway has JSG Super Powder available.

GM54-120250 grain max bullets.... I know what that is suggesting to me, but what are you guys thinking when they say 100 max 250 max? The web site shows the old 2f powder shooting 120 grains and a 240 grain bullet velocity @ 1905fps But if you look at the velocities that 100 grains was giving the 250 grain bullets.... it is not that bad in fact that is good velocity. Dang close to 2000fps. That is real close to what I am getting with 110 grains of BH - problem is how inflated are their numbers.... and on the other hand it is far better than any other APP that I have ever shot.

As long as the speed is close to BH209 that's good enough for me.
I don't like the 250 max bullet weight, I shoot 290 TMZs out of my .50 cal.
I'm interested in the cleanup/corrosion resistance. If it doesn't burn as clean, or is as easy to clean up as BH209 I have no use for it.

I would check the other AAP thread. The first visual inspection of the "new" powder is not very reassuring.

Thanks GMB,
Sugar based? Not going in my rifles.
I can't believe nobody can come out with something to compete with BH209, with an affordable price point and a full pound container it would sell crazy good.

I'm guessing that the 100 gr. 250 boolit is a "legal" manouvre. It'll probably be pretty hot with charges over the 100 gr. by volume measure and will prove quite useful(least wise I hope so). I don't have any guns that have closed Breaches xcept my 2 MLIIs and my Encore conversion. The others are open breech as in sidehammer and slamfire guns. A little competition is always good for the market. As usual I'll try at least 1 can/bottle and see how I like it. It's pretty hard to beat Swiss FFF or 4759 but always looking. 10 ga
