45 Pacnor or the like. What would be the best size hole and how long is necessary? What is the danger of forgetting to remove the thing before shooting? Have seen some that have a funnel shape for powder charging, but that might depend on the crown and bore size hole. Thanks for any details Rick

I think the one I use is a Thompson, It stays right on my range rod, So no chance of leaving it in the barrel, that is as long as you don't leave the ram rod in the barrel!!! Several different company make the one like I have ,it is just a small tapered brass washer

Yes, I have shot mine down range a couple of times ;D I poses not problem that I can tell. The bullet and sabot pass right thru it and I believe it is just the trailing gases that propel it. Usually right in line with the target . Richard

Just made one I think will work, sabot and bullet is snug. The bore guide is a taper fit to the barrel and also is a tight fit if I twist. I was sure it would be safe just not sure the hole was large enough for the oh sh%#$@% time I leave the thing on.

If the hole is big enough? I also use mine for loading. It guides the sabot and bullet into the bore much like a QLA. I made mine .456" and my land to land is .4505" The bullet struck about 6" low on the target and the bore guide landed about ten feet from the target Richard

At the range I use 3-separate items of powder funnel, false muzzle and a ramrod bore guide. I feel a unification project coming on of powder funnel and false muzzle. Thanks for sharing. Ed

Richard Then you're one step ahead of me. ;D I do enjoy having a funnel easily directing the powder into the bore with basically no spillage. Combining funnel with false muzzle eliminates a switching operation. Makes life easier for a lazy person like me. Ed

I just thought of something, ram rod length?
Nice ED.
I did try to knurl the top for a better grip, both files did not go very deep. Time to on Ebay for another lathe tool.

Spoonover The false muzzle is just used to get my sabot load about 3” into the bore. After that I use my ramrod guide that fits into the bore to keep the downward force for loading centered. You can see the guide on the right in the first picture. For this type of guide you need to have an open-end ramrod to slide the guide on and to make it easy on my hands I use a homemade T handle to assist with the loading. No problem with ramrod length and the loading jag ensures the guide does not remain behind when the ramrod is removed. These two items definitely come with me in the field via designated vest pocket. Not trying to takeover your thread but I wanted too mention there are other options. Ed
