I love my H&R SMI conversion, but one knock on them has been the stock angle on the H&R/NEFs, being more angled down makes consistent accuracy from shooting free recoil nearly impossible in my experience, unlike the savage or 700ml that has the stock more in line with the barrel and recoil forces. I just saw this today and it got me thinking- This appears to correct the stock angle problem and might work to limit muzzle rise and make shooting with free recoil feasable? compared to oem- Am I crazy?

Thanks bill I thought about this more overnight. The only thing in the top pick I was considering is the adjustable stock. The .45 project will look just like the lower pic but with a longer barrel. I'm now wondering about the weight difference in the two stocks for balance and recoil absorption.

I thought they offered some very nice looking laminate TH stocks on the new slug guns. Maybe one of those will fit and give the desired result. SMI offers an unusual stock but IMO it looks rather cheap.

I thought they offered some very nice looking laminate TH stocks on the new slug guns. They do but I believe the stock angle is the same. There are some aftermarket thumbholes that are more in line but they are pretty funky looking in my opinion. The oem thumbhole laminate I've held just didn't feel right to me, didn't fit me right. I think you're talking about the choate tactical stock? Looks wise it's not for me

I think it's cool, doubt you would run into its' twin while in the woods. Originality isn't always pretty.

I have a h+r 22 250 with the choate stock I can't say I like the looks but it is comfortable and shoots well. Jon

Jon, do you notice a difference in recoil direction with the choate stock versus the standard H&R stock?

Rangeball. I bought my h+r with the choate stock on it so I have no comparison but off a bipod I can shoot free recoil and it doesn't feel to have any more recoil than my 223. Just my own opinion. Jon
