I was looking for carbide rods to make bushings out of I found a 5/16 OD rod 6" long carbide rod for $22.55 at www.carbideconnection.com/. Could this be EDM cut and EDM the center hole to make BP bushings for our builds? I know some are looking for something like this to use instead of ventliners. Any ideas?

0.3125 is a bit large in diameter for a vent bushing I would try 5/32 to 13/64 as a good range.
If you prefer busings over vent liners the cheapest route is water hardening tool steel ( W1 ). A 36 inch piece of 3/16 diameter is $2.36 from McMaster and you can heat treat it yourself with respectable results....which you can't get from O1 which is a much better steel.
I won't be nearly as hard as carbide, but you can make them for pennies.
Not as cheap is A2 air hardening tool steel.

Barry, finding a place to do it would be the first hurdle, then see what they would charge to do it.
