Okay, I shot some 275BE's today, with H4198 & H322, and the only ones that shot well were knurled up to 0.453". A couple of bullets that were 0.452" fired but most did not. Do I need to use a wool wad or veggie wad under these and do they need to be knurled with a wad? They seem to have decent loading pressure when not knurled, I would assume around 20-30 lbs. Any tips I would appreciate it. Thanks , Kevin

I use veggie wads, not sure if there is any advantage veggie vs. wool. If you look at the two traces in this link, wads made a significant difference in pressure versus no wads. dougsmessageboards.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=smokeless&action=display&thread=7115The times I forgot to put a wad in over the powder-I never touched the backer at 200yds. Others may have different results. Going off memory but I think it tales approximately 60-70 lbs of force to get a 275 BE started and then 30-35 lbs to push it home in my gun. No knurling on my bullets though.

Kevin, you can get the 275gr bumped up in size, Bob rolls 3 bands and mine come .453, then a quick pass thru a die to .452. I can feel the bands cutting the rifling when seating. I get a little more speed with a veggie over a lubed wool wad too.
