youp 50.....The forend is oak. Couple years ago I cut off 3" inches off my old .50 cal barrel and 3" inches off the forend to match. When I put the 24" Pac-Nor on I added a 3" piece of oak I had laying around.
onion.... It's some cosmetics [like a new bluing job] but there's also some good to be had from the teflon coating. Durable and weather resistent. No oil, just wipe it off and go.
Dennis... The stock started out as a Savage factory laminate. I think it was a picture of one of SW's or RB's stocks that convinced me to copy their's. Did it for weight puposes. If you look at the action you'll see I also took some weight off there also [now it looks like a long action].The bolt handle is drilled out also.
I think I'm done tinkering with this one for a while. ;D
Everyone else..Thanks for the kind words. Zen

Looking good Zen! You will be happy the Black-Ice coating. Whats the final weight? Rick... With the modifications and the Talley lightweight rings my digital food scale says 9.73 #. During hunting season I put on a 3x9 scope which drops the weight a little more.....My wife thinks it would be easier for me to drop a few pounds. When we first met she called me 190# of rompin stompin romance. Now it's just 235# of gimpin along. Zen

Very nice Zen, but you'd better get those termites under control before they eat the rest of the stock ;D.

The gun RB loaned me for a few months had a skeleton stock and seemed front heavy with a 25+" barrel..IMO. With the shorter barrel I bet it balances a little better.
That's a very nice looking little gun!
