McGowen's tap for threading the barrel for my BP was broken, so my barrel is going to be a couple weeks late.

That is troubling, wonder if they could borrow Savage-barrels equipment? I think they are close.

Well, it's not much different where I work. They carry few spares of tooling. The difference is, if we break a tap, we just sent the "go-for" down the street and get another one.

Dannoboone. I have to agree with you. That is not that unusual a tap that it should not be fairly available plus If this was something I was planing to do again and again I would have a spare. That seems like a long time frame. Jon

11/16 16tpi I do not think is that common if it is for like a lathe (not a hand tap). Plus you have different classes of fit or tolerance. I think MSC only lists one high speed spiral with a class 2. But then again I get stuff next day from MSC (of course Montana is the middle of nowhere as far as shipping).
