Anyone here use fobs in place of vanes, feathers. The ads and testimonials and videos sound promising. If anyone has tried, how noisy are they in flight? Thanks!

I have never stood down range of an arrow dressed with FOBs so I can't attest to the sound during flight. From the archer's end I can't tell the difference as far as audio is concerned. They do stabilize large fixed broadheads very well and will slow the arrow up substantially at longer ranges.
There are problems with FOBs as I see it. First you need to have a fall away rest that is timed perfectly or the large round plastic FOB will hit the rest and then no telling where the arrow will end up. Secondly, since they are large and made of plastic they are very suceptable to damage by other arrows when grouping into a target. Thirdly, when hunting they will pop off as the arrow enters into an animal and I mean pop off. They could travel as far as 10 feet away from where they entered. This makes shooting FOBs with lighted nocks very problematic.
All in all they are a very innovative invention and work extremely well even in a stiff cross wind. I would recommend that you try some. If you feel that you would like me to send you a few just to try send me a PM.

SOOOOO, Do you use them or did you give up?I already figured they won't work with lighted nocks, which in themselves have been problematic for me.The damage from other arrows wont be a problem since I usually only use 1 arrow to practice then hunt with same arrow. I take it your flight and accuracy was similar to vanes?

Flight and accuracy were actually better than vanes in a cross wind and at longer distances. At 70 yards my arrows would drop about 5" more with FOBs than blazers. At 40 yards it was hard to distinguish the difference. It seemed that I got less left to right error with Fobs. Since I do use lighted nocks for hunting I don't practice with them anymore but they will do the job.
