I suppose anything like that could happen to a wood product. glad to know they are going to do right by you.

I have had a number of Richard Microfit stocks. For the money I have been satisfied but they generally take some work.

That's a nice looking stock, sure sucks that you had to wait that long and it showed up with a crack. Hope things work out with the new one for you.
What are you gonna do about the ramrod channel in the stock?
Good luck with your project!

What are you gonna do about the ramrod channel in the stock? Undecided as of yet, the nice thing is the ramrod channel is all routered out except for the last 1/2". I might just get a collapsable one from MAC. As far as the crack, it happens. I still have 5 weeks to go waiting for the pacnor 45 barrel and atleast hunting season is far enough away.

I bought a Cooper arms .204 ruger ($1,500) and when i opened the box the stock was cracked so bad that it broke completely in half without hardly any force . It felt like i just got kicked in the gut when i saw that. The shipping box was mint condition though 2 months later, cooper made me a new stock and bedded the rifle. I know your pain ;D Are they asking the stock be sent back to them? I kept my stock because i was afraid they would find some way to glue or repair it without me knowing.

Its a very nice looking stock, but it sad to say that's it made to todays standards. Its frustrating when you order something one off that is fudged up when they ship it out. I don't understand the mentality that just send it out and we will deal with it later. I work for big box outdoors store and see this on a daily routine. What ever happen to do it right the first time and taking care of the customer. I feel like im ranting but people need to start stand up and bring this country back to its roots.

Yes, they had UPS pick it up, but i marked the inlet and changed the tip and cap Accent wood color to make sure i dont receive the same stock.

Yeah I agree it should have been caught by Q.C. ,but ill bet its a 16 year old kid, first job and all has no idea of the product, and just knows put the piece of wood in the box and ship it. Hopefully they make good on it because for the day i had it i really liked the dual grip style.

Hopefully they will not give you a difficult time because of the color change. I know they say if you start any inletting, sanding etc. they may not take it back.

That was a very nice piece of art. Im sure they will make you another just as good "scratch that" BETTER without cracks stock. How much is that one going to cost you I'm thinking about a laminate for my 700ml?

That had to take some force to crack against the laminate like that (ran over by a forklift?). But then again I have been seeing some bad spots in the factory laminates where there is like spots of dead or punk wood in the individual layer of laminate. What is bad is that 99% of laminate wood for gunstocks comes from one supplier, Rutland Plywood.

Jims, I had not touched the stock, other than dry fitting the action. As far as changing the tip and cap wood they said no problem.

Greenhorn, 200-500 depending on wood and options chosen. Laminates on the lower end, walnuts and maples on the higher end.

Sorry to hear they wanted it back. You may not recieve that stock back, but somebody probably will Cooper never asked for mine back, all they wanted to see was a e-mailed pic of the crack.
