Has anyone tried the new Parker 325 saboted out of a .50 caliber yet? If there's been any talk of this on here, I guess I've missed it. All I've seen is shooting it from a .45 sabotless so far.

nic, Ive shot quite a few out of a new Pacnor 50/510 1:20 twist. I could give a lot of results, but for simplicity sake, and since this is a new bore size(510) and faster twist than any fifty Ive shot, I'll say what worked. 52 grains VV120 3/4" @100 yds, 2240 fps and would not shoot accurately above this velocity, although more velocity was gained. 58 grains H4198 2320 11/4" @100yds. Shot 140 and 150 grains BH 209, 2212fps & 2280fps 11/2". I tried BCR and old TC sabot with the TC , being the best, Ive also knurled to .453 and resized to .452, and used alcohol, hoppes and Butches BH cleaner, always 1 wet both sides and 1 dry both sides. I want this to be my only bullet very bad, but have not come up with the best combo. For another test I shot the 300 SST and it drilled holes at 100 yds with 55 VV120, 5/8" group(several). Any opinions on what else to try are welcome, I want to get to 2400 fps and 1" if possible. Iam going to try the short MMP black and also shoot them out of my Ultimate with BH when I get a break in the weather out west, Ray

Well Ray, nobody can say that you're not trying that's for sure! I know the 300 SST is going to be pretty tough to beat out of my Savage and it sounds like the same for your PacNor also. I just think the Parker 325 is a really interesting bullet though.

I have not been keeping up with this thread but I have a question. With the 325 gr bullet out of a 45 cal barrell, how is the kick compared to the 250 gr bullet out of a 50 cal? Thanks Rusty

Rusty, 45 with 325gr is not bad, Iam 6'3" 230lbs, and I know what felt recoil is as I have a carbon barreled Ultimate that I shoot 4 Pyro pellets and 300 gr sst's. Anything smokeless is sweet afetr you've shot solid fuel(pellets). Its been a while on the 250 gr but I just shot the 300 grners with vv120 and its a moderate recoil, similiar to the 45 and 325 gr load. Dave I shot 8 single loads of vv130 for velocity only, after my last shooting session. Went to 2400 fps, these 8 shots were not in one ragged hole, maybe 21/2"" vertical and horizontal. but my next outing will shoot vv130 in several loads. I talked to someone who has shot a lot of the 325s and he said to go to 300 yds and I might be pleasantly surprised. I'll do this as well, were supposed to get up to 24" of snow on Saturday and Sunday, in which case I'll be out chasing putty cats with hounds, Ray

IMHO size has very little to do with the effects of recoil, as I like to point out, Cindy G, had a hunting show for a couple of years, she shot a 500 NE, with skill, maybe she weighted 130 lbs, Her rifle generated over 60lbs of recoil, the loads your talking about are in the high 25s or low 30s Even my Buster load only generates 42lbs of recoil My .458 Lott was a beast, from the bench, if anyone says they like shooting it, well, enough said.

If interested in a 325 bullet out of a .50, give the 325 FTX a try. The extra "meat" in .458 is something I feel is helpful in consistency in our .50's and you will not lose enough...BC wise... to justify the Parker. And for on game performance, ask Bigmoose about penetration...and I'll personally vouch for results on deer sized critters.
Grab some harvestor black CR sabots and plan on spending less then half the Parker cost using the FTX's and try them.
My results say "wow"

The FTX is a big game bullet, I haven't chony it yet, but Wilmsmeyer thinks you can get 2400 to 2500FPS with 71grs of H4198. Whatever the speed it drives deep and make a very large wound channel, in wood and my block, so that add's up a deadly bullet on living tissue. If wilms use's it on 1000 lb plus animal, he will get the same results as on Deer I didn't know there was a price difference in the two 325 bullets but a brought a box of FTX, It was a 50 percent shot and iI got the winner......amazing thanks Wilms
