I see Harvester sells both black and red crush rib sabots. The advertise the red as being for smokeless. Does this mean that the black isn't a good choice for smokeless? I keep reading posts where everyone is using the black in smokeless and hardly read anything about the red. What am I missing here? Is red better, worse, the same? Any comments would be appreciated since I'm about to buy some and I'd like to get the best choice for my Savage ML2. Thanks

Black is best with .458 bullets. Red works well with .45-452 depending on your bore.

To confuse you further the black crush rib will be listed for .452 dia bullets. Most find this combo to loose and use the .458 bullets with this .452 sabot with excellent results. The red crush rib is reserved for .452 bullets. All of harvesters sabots are the best choice in sabots for smokeless shooting. The consistancy and heat tolerance is much better than the competition IMO.
