About a mon. ago I posted here about the trouble I was having getting a tight group with my 10 ml, I got some real good advice, I cleaned the gun , drilled the vent liner, checked to see if any mounting screws were bottoming out on the scope mounts, tried another load, then put my load in a friends 10 ml and cut the same hole 3x at 50yds using a lead sled, the best mine will do is 3in. group at 50yds. so I took the scope off , rings ,mounts, and tried again at 50yds same thing 3in group. I took the gun back to the dealer and he called savage, they have no idea what might be wrong but agreed to take the gun back and put another barrel on at no charge to me ( thank you lord). I did learn that when you purchase a gun,(especially a muzzeloader) take it out and shoot it just like it comes from the factory before you put a scope on or make any other modifications. thanks for the suggestions I will be putting them to use when I get the gun back from savage.

I sent mine back for similar reasons and they put two different barrels on it and could not get it to shoot any better than my original one. They subsequently sent me a new gun..................and it shot no better than the first one 1 1/2 to 3" 100 yard groups. Put the .45 Pac-Nor on and now its consistent 1.5" or less (mostly less) five shot groups, week in and week out;D Loads are finicky. It sometimes takes a lot of playing around to find one that shoots well in the .50 factory barrels........whereas the .45 shoots so many different loads really good. I agonized for over a years blowing $$$ on bullets and powder before I took the plunge and got the .45...........................and have never looked back........JMHO! Some have very good luck with their .50's I don't know of anyone who has put a Pac-Nor on their Savage that has gone back to the .50 Richard
