I'd like to replace my factory plastic stock with something else. Perhaps wood or laminate. I've heard the factory lam. stox are slippery when wet.

Wood is beautiful.... So beautiful in fact I find it hard to take to the wood's. I bought a used one that was like new..Liked it so much I sold it rather than scratch it up... I did however buy a Bell and Carlson Duramax from Cabelas for 120ish... Had it bedded..and re-pillare'd... You have to watch though for it hugging the right side of the stock. It is more from the pillars being out of align than anything else. But it IS fixable. This is on my Savage with PacNor. I can say nothing bad about it . It is totally functional. The only thing I would do different now is to go to B&C direct and get the Freedom Green color. This (imho) is the most cost effective option out there. Good Luck drop

I cannot speak for factory laminates. I do have some experience with the Boyds. Wet is not usually an issue here, snow and gloves are the norm. Boyds are slick. I stripped and checkered one last winter. This season I took one and added 3M nonslip panels to the stock. The panels worked great and left no residue or finish damage. I removed them after season. That stock is in the basement now getting some checkering.
