If the 700ml has the factory 209 conversion or the canadian version with the slam fire bolt assembly, You will need a bolt kit which has a primer holder similar to the savage 10ml-11. If it already has this type of conversion, then order a hex head savage breach plug and a barrel. You will probably want a new recoil lug while you are putting it back together.

Hey hunter, does the (other than yours) bolt conversion have the same length as yours?

fishhawk, No, My conversion is longer and sticks into the barrel further. I also have this same type of conversion with a closed breach plug with ventliner for the factory 700ml barrels. But my bolt kit will not work with the factory breach plug.

Hunter I'll be sending you a bolt assembly for my 700ML conversion next week. When I ordered my Pac-nor 45 barrel I told them I wanted the DD special threaded for the Savage breach plug. With your bolt conversion and this set up the only thing I should half to do after putting it together is shave a little off the face of the breach plug so the bolt closes firmly? Someone let me know if I'm on track.

My friend who arranged the deal between his son inlaw and I gave me my money back with no concern's ...Other than somebody trashed a very nice gun. He knew when I sold it to him it was 90% and a REAL shooter. He is being told the gun was never fired after he got it.... But he know's the truth. Since someone had a scope mounted up on it . It is kind of hard to deny. He thinks maybe one of the brother inlaw's took it and used it without permission and stuck it back in the cabinet without cleaning it... Andt hat is about the condition it is in. When I ran a dry patch down it it almost got stuck. It was all I could do to pull it out. And then dry rust fell out of the barrel ..I mean FLAKES.... But anyway being the friend he is I was assured that it would never come between us... And I believe that. . So somewhere sometime I will get either a 7ooml or a 700 something and start then. It isnt like I dont have one anyway.. Got my Savage and my Encore on the way. But next time I will look it over BEFORE I taker it home. Drop

Drop, is the action still good? If he is going to junk it and there is still some usable parts I'll give $50 + shipping.

Naw Rossman... They think it is a goldmine. I sold it to them 2 years back without a scope on it... well cleaned and bore butter down the barrel. Now they lean toward's the fact that I sold it to them in this condition... When sold it had no scope..Does now and the bolt face is corroded quite badly. The box and a half of the bullets that went with it came back -3 short of a full box. Seems like a lot of mud spots on the gun and case (maybe like riding around in the back of a truck) for a gun that was never shot...or even taken out of the case that went with it..I know I am venting. Ok anyway they feel they can take a drill and some cleanning compound and clean her up good and shoot her.. (Or sell her to someone not as wise)... Ross you wouldnt want it..... Drop

That is the problem shooting BP/BP subs, shoot it once and clean it for three days. I ran across a .54 700ML maybe not as bad. Barrel with enough rust I wouldn't shoot it, bolt badly pitted and the action with some bad spots. The guy wanted $175 for it and I showed him the bad spots and offered him $75 and he wouldn't budge so I told him $100 and he still wouldn't budge off of $175. I told him if I had to plate the bolt and action plus replace the barrel I wasn't offering anymore and walked away. Maybe he was looking for a sucker that would buy it like it was for that price.
There is a product called 'Evaporust" that will take the rust right off (and the bluing) but it sure doesn't fill in the pits.

not sure how it would work in a situation like rust on a gun, but i've used naval jelly in the past to clean surface rust off metal. still be left with the pitting though.. just thinking out loud

rossman40, My son works for Summit Racing and they carry Evaporust. I used it on a guy's Ruger single Six that he left outside for a month. It worked like magic. Although it needed a little more magic to handle the pits. Pretty amazing stuff!
