Im fixing to send my action to Pacnor so they can time the flutes to the action. For those of you that have done this did you remove the trigger and bolt or send them along with it? Thanks Tim

Tim, I also removed the trigger when I sent mine to them. You may want to tell them the position you want your flutes. When I got mine back the flutes were at the 12 & 6 o'clock position, I assumed they would have made them at the 10 & 2 o'clock position. With the flute running up the bottom of the bbl. it gave me alot less meat to drill and tap into for my ramrod thimble.

How do they time the flutes without first head spacing the plug to the bolt? Seems like they'd need the bolt and a plug to do this right. Obviously I'm thinking of the Savage action. Maybe you guys are discussing Remington actions.

Maybe you guys are discussing Remington actions. This is a remington action the headspace is set off the breechplug, you have to set it yourself by filing off the back on the nipple. Pete leaves it long just for that.

I agree remove the bolt and trigger as I am about to do the same.
To add to "killitgrillit" post. If you are using a hunter bolt conversion then Pacnor already had the proper dimensions to get the head spacing close enough that you only have to file off a little of the primer pocket for an exact head spacing fit.
In my case which I have a slightly longer bolt than the hunter bolt conversion, which was made by dave d. I had to measure the distance from the snout of the plug to the end of the recoil lug This was with the bolt closed the plug snug against the bolt and the recoil lug in place, but no barrel. With this measurement Pacnor can get the barrel setup so it requires very little removal of the primer pocket on the BP.
Hope this helps,
