I'm a new shooter of a 50 cal 10ml and I'm going to shoot a 300 gr bullet while hunting. What I want to know is. Can a man use the same amount of these powders since they are both 4198

They are a little different. Which ever you use start low and work up until you get a good accurate load.

I had good luck with 67-68 gr of h-4198 and 300 gr. rem .458 bullets and BCR sabots. I have not used the IMR 4198 so I can not comment on it. I have heard the h-4198 is easier to ignite but if you have a tight bullet-sabot fit, I think either will work fine. I believe the IMR also takes about 2 grains less to get the same velosity.

Hunter, same bullet and sabot that I was going to try. Went with The IMR because I found a good buy on it. what kind of velocity are you getting with your load.

I do not have a chrony but I think it should be in the 23-2400 fps range.

I shot 68 to 69 grains of IMR 4198 with a 250 SST and it was very accurate at 2475 FPS. I switched to the 250 Barnes and it shoots well also. I just bought a can of H4198 today to shoot in my .45 when finished. Tim
