I'm curious if you guys do anything to change the way your ram rods fit in your guns when you go to an aftermarket rod. I bought a giRamrod with spin jag, and the rod fits really tight in the stock and thimble. I know the factory rod fits the same, but flexes since its fiberglass. The solid aluminum rod kind of binds, and surely puts a lot of pressure against the underside of the barrel due to the the angle its forced into because of the thimbles thickness between the rod and barrel. I have a stainless/laminate gun.

Go to a MAc collapsible 3 pc rod.

I would prefer to retain the giRamrod on the gun, but somehow improve the fit.

If I understand you right, alll you should need to do is:
Take the thimble off the barrel and ream it out so the rod slides through it with no resistance, then enlarge the grove in your stock with a wooden dowel rod wrapped with some sandpaper.
