Store didn't have any Trip 7 FFG (my usual), and I read the label of a Trip 7 FFFG bottle about the same (+3 fps), ballistics for 300 gr XTP for the same powder charge of 100 gr by volume. Always thought the finer the grain size the less you used. The subs must be a different animal or my logic needs adjusting.

Not necessarily. The finer FFFG just burns faster and is more consistent in my rifles. Use a chronograph to check your speeds to be sure.

Drop down to 90gr of FFFG and it should give you the same results as 100gr of FFG. Just my experience when I tried it.

That's a good idea. If I get the same trajectory at 100 yds then I'll be a happy camper.
