The $50 they have listed as the price on the site has come down quite a bit! Typo or am I reading it wrong?

Its a "pre-order" amount. You pay the rest when it ships. Click on the model to see the total

See there are no 45cal listed? Mike I had a couple long chats with Gordy about 45s and begged for a fast twist 45 in the lineup. At least faster than the 1-30, preferably a 1-24. Knight actually used 1-18 45s for their 6 plus wins at Friendship. IMO the 45 is gaining popularity again and at least one company has expanded its 45cal offerings. I knew they wouldn't have one out with the first round of production but i still have some hope for later in the year or next year depending on sales.

What is wrong with some of these manufactures, don't they listen any more to the shooters that help keep them in business. Another .45 shooter left in the dark again. I'm very disappointed in BPI Inc. with there new line up of guns.

sqezer
BPI is CVA, they actually expanded the 45 offerings to a few less expensive models. Previously you could only get it in the top end Accura and Apex.
Knight though actually did listen to the main "wants" that would be most affordable to get started again. Everyone wanted the Slam aka Mountaineer but with the Lehigh conversion most current owners wanted more such as a faster twist 50cal.
They offered the meat and potatoes guns Knight sold best, the Extremes and a plunger gun that is 50 state ML regs legal. That was pretty much the plan i heard the new owners wanted to start.
I think they went a bit over board on the TH stocks but they look nice. I prefer a TH in composite and normal laminates.
They included the kids with a smaller Bighorn that can get a larger stock later. Im pretty sure they will interchange. Overall nothing really thrills me yet either unless there are more details about the Mountaineer that make it nicer than my current DISC based guns with the Lehigh conversions.

I just don't see how you're gonna sell a $700 blackpowder rifle when you can pick up a REALLY nice used Knight for $300. That is what I payed for this one just a month ago, to my door and no tax, and including the Lehigh conversion. I've seen at least 5 master hunters on mm just in the last few months, why give $700 plus for a new one?

Actually if you want an Extreme laminate SS its $539 shipped. I imagine once they get through the dealer networks prices will be lower. People wanted the Ultimate Slam and the new tooling costs money. They sold every LE LRH they made for $799 just a month ago. The new Mountaineer is even nicer IMO and cost less.

Actually if you want an Extreme laminate SS its $539 shipped. The closest thing to what I bought, you'd have to go to the mountaineer, fluted barrel, jeweled bolt, etc. It's $699, plus I'm in Tennessee, so I'm looking at another $70 in tax, but I would get a free hat. Look, I'm not slamming on Knight, I'm thrilled to see them back in business, and I have no doubt they are nice guns, but ain't no way I'm paying that much money for a b.p. I hope they have success, I just don't see who's gonna buy them when there's still NIB all over the country for half that price, plus the abundance of used ones. I didn't see any mention of a redesigned blackhorn friendly breechplug either, if I were them I would be touting that this rifle is the result of all the ultimate slam testing they had done and they guaranteed ignition of blackhorn, blah blah blah. Seems that would be a major selling point. JMO

gm, that was a typo error on my part, (BPI) but for one that is very recoil sensitive do to having my neck fussed (5,6,7,) and a titanium plate, .50s offer to much recoil. I'm just hoping that Knight will come out with a .45. One more point I'd like to share, I help teach Hunters Ed. in Wisconsin, with the popularity of the smoke guns and the size of our young shooters, recoil is a very big issue, the last thing we want is to turn a young shooter off due to recoil. Thanks.

sqezerBelieve me, i doubt anyone is more disappointed in the lack of a 45cal than me. It is my preferred caliber in a ML for shooting during any kind of extended sessions. Shorter sessions i can tolerate heavy recoil and if im hunting but 50 shots of 40lbs of recoil gets old fast. My GMB54 with a 54x50 385gr Rem CLHP and a max load will rattle your teeth and the guy next to you. I wont go into detail about my back except to say IF i took the full script they want me to take i would be a zombie.

sqezer I know of what you speak as I to have had that same fusion. I would say that the 50 cal is not out of the question as they can be shot with 200 gr 40 cal bullets very accurately with minimal recoil.

The Mountaineer looks very interesting to me, I may have to find room for one of them. I hope the company does well and I'm very glad to see them back in the game.
I want to add that I know my 2 grandsons will be getting for christmas next year!

Okay, is it just me, or have the used prices increased substantially since Knight posted their new lineup and prices? Several used guns for sale over on mm since this thread started and they are asking WAY more than just a few weeks ago. Seems the used prices are reflecting just a slight savings over what a new Knight would cost you. If this holds true, then everything I posted earlier is thrown out the window. I now would take the position of , why pay "x" dollars for used when I could buy a brand new one for just a little more? Seems the best time to buy was why Knight was "out of business".
