I just received my ramrod from Mac. And it is a piece of art! I talked to him for 30 minutes on the phone and he shared some very good tips and we also discussed gun stocks. If anyone is thinking of getting one of these you will not be disappointed. Of course any of you that have ordered one know exactly what I am talking about. A great guy.

Is this a collapsable rod? I'm looking for a good option for a 700ml conversion without a rod holder in stock.

I agree. I purchased two of Mac's rods for my PacNor's and he shortened the end rod to accommodate a spin jag.
Very nice rods!
I use a couple of wraps of yellow electrical tape to create witness marks for the loads. You sure can't overlook the tape when loading and it doesn't effect the operation in any way If I ever change loads it will be easy to change

Tried to break mine Sunday. Was very cold when loading. Bob was with me at the local gun range watching as I was loading, when I lost control. The rod bent close to 45º. I pulled it back out and no bend. Bob, disbelieving, went to the bed of truck with the rod and gave it a roll down the top rail; not even a slight bend. Great tools work, thanks Mac!

Mac's ramrod is great. I highly recommend it. (And, as others have said, Mac is a great guy.) A couple of things I did different with this year are: 1)I took the tie down rope out of the bottom of the sheath that came with mine and threaded it through the belt loop (top of the sheath) to use a lanyard. This is especially handy when I'm hunting late season and my belt is buried under several layers of clothing. 2) I had a very serious back itch right in the middle of my back; no way was I getting to it with my cold weather gear on. But Mac's ramrod was the ticket. A 45 loading jag is a very good back scratcher. Here's a video of one of the original ones in action. The short starters are real nice too.

A very, very good rod. Unless Mac has changed design, these rods are pushers only. So you can't use a patch. The version I have is put together like a tent pole so if you pull on a patch it will come apart.
No biggie for a second or third shot. And if you don't patch at all (like me) it's a non-issue. If you do patch, you'll want a range rod with you.

Mac is a first class guy and has a great collaspable ramrod. I have a 45-70 Encore converted to a smokeless muzzleloader so no way to carry a ramrod on the gun.
Mac furnishes a carry case to wear on your belt but I found when the rod is collasped it fit in my zippered pocket on the front of my winter overalls. As others have mentioned this set up does not work to patch with, but I never patch between shots anyway. It works great for hunting.

Just an FYI, Mac left me a voice mail just checking to make sure everything was to my liking, He wanted me to pass on to the board that he still has a few rods left he he wants to get rid of before he orders new stock to start making more. Also he said he has some shooting sticks in the works, that will be similar to his ram rod. So give him a shout if you are in need of a ram rod.

Just got my ram rod from mac, he is a great man with a great product. All the materials use are high quality and have great fit and finish. Even in you have a ram rod carrier on your gun I don't think u could get yours out as fast as you could macs.

I ordered one a couple of days ago and just got it this morning. Great guy to deal with and the product is outstanding! Mac put a couple of extra goodies in with the ramrod like powder vials, primer holder, etc. He's not only selling a great product, he's very nice to talk to. Get one, you won't be sorry.

I received my 24" spinjag Mac's Ramrod and bullet starter rod a couple of days ago. They are a work of art done in aluminum, brass, steel, and rubber. Right away I had to snap the ramrod open like the youtube video. It worked perfectly. Last night I removed my ML-II breechplug and slugged a couple of Hornady XTP 300 grainers with sabots through the barrel. Mac's rod worked perfectly. I'm looking forward to using it in the field. An added bonus is that the Mac Rod is lighter than my XS Power Rod. Mac is a great guy to deal with and makes a quality product. I should have got one of these a long time ago.
