80 yard shot. Textbook load of 5744 and 250g XTP bullets. Shoots right at 1". Heart shot and deer still ran 80 yards with no heart. Totally amazing to me. Not sure who loves this gun more... me or our 10 y/o son. Thanks to everyone that participates on this board and answers the newby questions. Saved me a lot of time and effort, grabbing the right load, right off the bat. The 1-11-11 snowstorm buck will be one we won't forget anytime soon!

Congratulations to your son! And yes, heart shot deer do amazing things. Takes them a while to figure out they are dead.

Thanks for the kind words everyone... I've waited my whole life for this ...what a great feeling! Never found anyone that liked to deer hunt as long and hard as I do, but these boys of mine are troopers. I am very proud of them!

Yes youp50, I worry about that sometimes. I always leave it up to them... if they have friends over and don't want to go, that's OK with me. The last thing I want to do is burn them out and have them not enjoy it. I want to do this a long time!
