Does anyone have an idea of the total production run of Savage MLs? I thought I saw it mentioned once on this site. In the alternative if we knew an early production serial number and one of the last serial numbers it would give an estimate. Thanks

I was in the game for a couple years and heard then it was about 22,000 guns. That has been some years ago, but that sure sounds like alot doesn't it?

Rifleman: I do not know but that is around the figure I "saw" mentioned in the past. If the production run was somewhere around 7 years or so that could be possible. Several thousand a year on average, maybe so. I may yet get a .45 barrel. Those that have them like them but it would appear there are some thousands reasonably happy with the stock .50s.

Jim
There may be a good number of 10ML-II’s out there but how many owners know about the new approach with the 45Cal now available? Would they still be happy with the 50Cal if they spent some time on this board and reading/seeing the results posted here? It is easily seen on this board that the 45Cal popularity is dominating and good accuracy is far easier to obtain with the aftermarket barrel than the commercial 50Cal barrel.
As far as what the 50cal offers for accuracy as a hunting muzzleloader out to 200yds no contentment issue here. But will admit I invested time and money to find the accuracy I now enjoy today. No regrets and no driving desire for change at this time.

From the way I understood it 10ML-Is started at M005000. Then you see blue 10ML-IIs in the M007000s and stainless ML-IIs started at M010000 and the numbers stayed consecutive after that. Left over 10ML-I actions were converted to single shot centerfires but still carry the "M" prefix SN

All the ML-I's were blued, w/black tupperware stock and module for a primer carrier guns. I believe there were less than 5,000 made.

I think there was less then 1000 of 10ML-Is made. Something about the ATF jerking the ML classification (but giving a temporary waiver) and Savage actually was showing the ATF the ML10-II about the same time the ML10-Is was hitting the shelves in the spring/summer of 2000.
Maybe Joe can pitch in and settle the questions.

I bought my MLI in the spring of 2001 and they came out int the fall of 2000. I owned one of the very first Accutrigger ML II's. I got it before most anyone else had seen them. I posted a picture of the gun on here before anyone had seen them. TB emailed me and ask me where I got the gun because he didn't have one yet. To this day only one other person knows where the gun came from. Mike

I got my 10ML-II Dec 22 2000. I came here to research it and there were only like 4 threads. When I ordered it I was expecting to get a SS 10ML-I as TJs General Store just had it listed as a 10MLSS. It was also shown off at the 2001 SHOT Show. Savage added the laminate stock in 2002.
