I enjoyed the post by Grouse. I got into sabotless to hunt deer in Colorado, and must use BP or substitute. last year I shot the parker 300 gr Hydracon, factory knurled by Bob Parker, with 150 grs BH 209, at 2325 fps. These are very accurate and shoot very consistant, loading fairly hard. I decided to do my own knurling on the Barnes TEZ 250 and 290 gr, using files. I'm getting very inconsistent results with BH 209, even when knurled to give a tight fit. Has anybody shot BH 209 with solid coppers sabotless to any degree of success?

Think I would take the supplied sabot for those bullets and cut the petals off, so all you have left is the cup....We will now call this a WAD
Seat your newly fashioned WAD on the powder charge Very firmly, then seat your knurled bullet on top of that This will give the BH209 a good tight seal that it needs to fire consistently.
That should do the trick

Not sure what you are looking for. I have an Encore pro hunter. I tried hornady sabotless 350 gr. 50 cal. FPB. I shot them out to a hundred yards, using 110 gr. 209. They touched. As a matter of fact, I sold my Sa 10 ML II and got rid of all other bullets and sabots. I am not sure whats inside, but they load easy and group excellent. Hope I helped.

I think RKRobson needs a bullet for 50cal that is 1 inch long maxium, and sabot bullets are also against the rules. That's the law in Colorado So, the FPB is just a tad longer than 1 inch, so most folks just snip off the rubber flex tip, and they are all set to go
