Next year we are putting in for a controlled elk hunt draw with a resident of Oregon as the (party leader). He has put in for the last three yrs and has not been drawn... Not sure how many pts he has...
Can anyone familiar with the draw in Oregon give me some idea of our chances to draw a tag? There will be a max of five of us (All non residents) applying in the "party"
so IF I draw a tag I will be going sometime around Thanksgiving next year. This will be a rifle hunt, and I believe in the Northeastern part of Unit 16 (Santiam)....
I have never hunted Oregon, and just looking for any info on this area, that anyone is willing to share.

I really think it depends on the area your putting in for. I had a buddy in Afghanistan that was a Oregon resident and it seemed he and his father got drawn about every other year to every third year. I don't recall the unit he was hunting though. He did say that if you drew you would probably score though.

Thanks for the info, I do know that you can see Mt Hood from the cabin we are to be hunting from... I am not even sure if we will be in Santium or Mt Hood...
