I was in a treestand on Oct. 28 2010 with my crossbow cocked and loaded at 8 am the left limb splintered the bolt went who knows where At least I had it on my lap and the bolt flew into the woods the quiver fell to the ground Thank god I didnt have the Xbow in the bow holder on the tree The bolt would have shot up into the air and would have landed who knows where I got the Xbow repaired with a new limb Parker only replaced the spintered limb changed the string The only thing I seen that bothered me was the limb camo didn't match Well got time to shoot the Xbow last week and after 6 shots the right limb spintered So today I took it back to Cabelas to be fixed again Well it has a life time waranty I think Ill get rid of it and get a different manufacter

I got a #150 Parker Saf Mag the year they came out. After a lot of shooting both limbs had cracks. Both replaced. Later got a #175 version of the same. After appx 1200 shots cracks in limbs, replaced, same after appx 1000-1200 shots and again after appx 1500 shots - on 4th set. The warranty works well . It is very accurate and has held up well, IMO. My Strykeforce has also held up comparatively well - 2410 shots on same limbs and 2386 shots on original string. Cam sleeves wore completely out and axles have significant wear. Bolts broke that hold the stock on, stock cracked. Still it is a great x-bow. How old is your x-bow and did your arrows possibly have a cut out groove in the nock. If so, I have an opinion as to what happened. Think I shoot my x-bows a lot?

SW, I do not do this very well but here goes. IMHO, you have the time , the money and the expertise---- AND--- I am sure all of these were gained though many thousands of hours of hard work. When you type, Sir, I read. I have read all of your post, all of RBinARs and most of EVERYONE of the old timers at Dougs( no offense intended) Mr Bibby died before I TOOK THE TIME to thank him. I would like to say Thank you and thank you to all who contribute to advancing our great sport. Since My Bibby passed away, We need you Guys more than ever !!!! Thanks again Rusty

Rusty, You way over evaluate me but thanks.
Windy, There are lots of advantages and disadvantages between the 2 major types of x-bows(recurve and compound). Make sure you are willing to accept the pros and cons of whichever you buy. 10 PT bows are class acts, as are Bowteck, Excaliber, and some others. Middleton is a newer brand of recurve which has my attention. Also, Bowteck is coming out with 2 new models, one of which is supposed to be around $600 and still 350'/sec with a 425g arrow. Recurves are generally lighter, slower, wider, and noiser than compounds. But recurves rarely ever break nor need any maintenance other than string/serving replacement. They are also extremely repeatable in performance. Your hunting conditions, pocket book, and availability of service or whether you can do it yourself will help dictate the right decision for you.
