How can I shorten a Knight ramrod?

I need to shorten my knight ramrod by a couple of inches(I had the barrel cut and crowned.

Any info on how to remove the inserts and cut it down?

cut it, heat and pull the brass out of the short piece of ramrod, use ferrel cement and put it back on
