I have a few more weeks to hunt and have thought of trying Muzleloading. I found a Knight LK-93 tht is around an hour from me. They guy bought it used and never fired it and decided to sell it. It is set up for #11 caps and has a Williams sight and he will throw in a pack of bullets. He is asking $120.00. He says the trigger on it is awesome. I am not sure if I'll like MLing or not and thought this might be a cheap way to get in the sport. Im in Mass and they dont allow break open or hinge guns.
Is $75.00 too much to offer? I kind of liked what ive read on the knight guns and thought if I pay &5 it would allow me to also get the 209 conversion kit and Id have a set up I could hunt anywhere with..

I paid $125 for mine with the 209FPJ conversion and it is a great rifle. The triggers are great and far better than you would expect from a plunger gun.
Top it with a Knight/Williams FoolProof peepsite from Numrich for only about $35 and you have a ML that is legal in almost any state.
IMO it is the best entry priced gun ever built and far better than many more expensive guns. Even the trigger is adjustable but you may want a slipon recoil pad. My 54 kicks like a mule but with the Knight slipon its a lot better. It depends which stock yours has on it. Mine had the cheapest stock option.

The big thing with used Muzzle loaders is have they been taken care of. Pull out the bolt and breech plug and look down the barrel. If every thing is nice and clean and shiney it is probably a good buy. If it is a stainless that is a plus. I got one for my daughter many years ago and she still uses it. We put peepsights on it. It is a open bolt or slam fire so Pyrodex or triple seven would work the best as blackhorn 209 probably won't. The load we use is 70 weighed grains of T7 with a 250 grain Hornady XTP .452 Bullet and a Harvester short black sabot. It a good 100 yard gun. Keep it clean and I don't think you would loose any money on it if you wanted to sell later.

The seller said it has no rust ,some slight blemishs on th barell not scratches. It already has a williams Peep sight. It is a .50 and has the stock with the indent on it and is blued. Just trying to come up with a fair offer for both of us. Can this shoot farther than 100 yards if I have a shot at something big?

He said he is $120.00 into it and would ship it to me for $125 as he already boxed it for someone who backed out.

What are the other types of ML's that you own? Myself, I would never go back to a slam-fire plunger rifle if the $125 was taped to the barrel. There's a lot better stuff out there now. They were as good as it got in 1985, but I dumped all of mine off on guys that do the 4 shots per year thing. I'd say hang on to your $$$$ and get something better. Also, a couple of letters to your State's Game Commission wouldn't hurt. Don't forget, they STILL work for you. Good Luck!
