My wife is interested in ML hunting, so I'm now searching for another ML10-II. A few years ago, I bought my stainless ML10 and I have thoroughly enjoyed hunting with it. She bow hunts, rifle hunts, and shotgun hunts, so I'm not surprised by her decision. Now that the ML10 has been dicontinued, I'm seeking recomendations as to who has some in stock.

After some further research, I'm also interested in an SMI smokeless conversion on the H&R. Actually, this might be the best choice due the ability to build the gun to fit her better. Any input on the H&R conversion would be greatly appreciated also.

For a woman, weight of the rifle is something to really consider. Before you buy make sure she can handle a 10 or 11 pound rifle and will be happy shooting it. My daughter, a grown woman, hunts with me. She shoots a Knight that weighs about 7.5 lbs. It's a joy to carry compared to the Savage. She is not going to shoot past 100yds. It's deadly out that far and beyond. Yes we have to clean it, but sometimes one thing may be more important than the other. You are probably right in considering the H & R Conversion. I've never handled one but I'm sure it would be lighter than the Savage. Yes, I like my Savage, but they are not for everybody.
