well another savage has found a home in my safe, a stainless with a richards stock along with the tupperware and a couple of Petes plugs.. o yes and a tactical bolt handle that has not been installed yet.
question, since I already have a boat anchor that shoots fantastic I am contemplating morphing this into a lighter rig. this would probably be directed to Dave D or maybe someone else will know. does pacnor do a lighter profile DD barrel? Since the boat anchor is 28" I will probably go with 25-26" on this rig and flute it to get the weight down all I can. will also do without a ramrod tube or a provision for one and even contemplating milling some barrel vents in the forearm. right now it weighs 10 lb 2 oz with 2 peice bases and no ramrod, thats with bedding completed by former owner but I will add pillars and extra action screw. the goal will be 11 lbs or slightly over scoped.....Bill

That sounds interesting. I do not think I am over scoped, two of mine have 20 power variables on them but I shoot from a fixed stand at non moving deer.

Dave, can you still get the same velocity out of the shorter barrel as you can get out of the 26" barrel?

With the right duplex, I have pushed the 3100 fps envelope with a 26" .45 PN. 3,000 is a piece of cake! You will however, chew up firing pin supports if you shoot a steady diet of these high velocity loads. Richard
