I found a great deal on a Traditions 45/70 thumbhole. I was wondering what the possibilities of a smokeless conversion might be. Anyone have experience with this gun and who would be able to make a savage style breech plug for it? Are the bores similar to the H&R Handi Rifle? Thanks for any info!

A great deal on a Traditions is if someone paid you to take it. Owned two, that was enough. IMHO there are much better platforms for you to build on.

Those responses don't sound encouraging. I'd like to stick with a single shot platform, do you the the Handi Rifle is a better way to go?
Thanks for the opinions!

My RB converted 45/70 Encore is a great shooting gun. SMI will do the conversions on the barrel.
