I have been using 200 SSTs in my .40 as that is what RB recommended in his barrel. They shoot well but I would like to try the Barnes 195s. Did I read somewhere that Barnes has some flatter based 195s if one contacts them directly at the factory? If so please refresh me on what I have to ask for and whom to contact etc. Thanks

435-856-1105 ask for Ty. Forget the exact price, think it was $65+shipping for 75 bullets. Ask for the "flat base".

Jims'
Can you tell me the load that you are shooting in your .40? Just curious.

Shivesy: Mine is a book load, 12 grains of 4759 under 78 grains of H4350. I use a woolen wad also and 200 SSTs that have been knurled. That is what I would consider a maximum load, I would start with a lower amount of powder under the book loads if there really is a book. You can find the loads under this sites loads that are listed.

Jims, I am sending my 40 to Richard for restocking, any tweaking he thinks desirable, and camoing the gun/scope. Likely, I will switch to Barnes and keep my 12/64 VV-110/Vgt load(2880). A fully camo'd, Richardized , Barnes shooting, 40 cal PacNor will be hard to beat. I, too am interested in the new flat based Barnes. I think it will make a big difference in the sabot shooting 45 but wonder if there will be an advantage in the 40. I do have about 40 of the rounded based versions. Your thoughts? Other's thoughts?

sw: I have never gotten boattail bullets to shoot well either in sabots or sabotless. The flatter the base the better luck I have had. Others may have done better but that is my experience.

sw, What type of camo are you using? I had my .243 dipped in a snow camo a few years ago and it is really nice. Is that what you mean by camoing?
