I finally got to shoot the Savage that Richard beddded and put the 3'rd pillar on, plus a Duramaxx stock. Here she is again. My 1'st 3 shots from 50 yards, nothing to write home about, BUT I am shooting off a glass topped patio table with uneven legs, trying to shoot bentover but standing up behind it, not ideal conditions! I haven't played with loads or anything, I have no doubt this gun is capable of much better than this if I do my part. Having said that........had this been a deer, it is dead! That's all I really need out of this one, it will be my woods gun, most shots under 100 yards, probably the majority of those under 50. The .45 pacnor build I am waiting on will be the real tackdriver for use from the shooting house. What concerns me much more than the size of the initial group is this primer which failed to ignite. You can see where the striker dented it, but it didn't fire. Any ideas on this? CCI 209M.

It could be a couple of things. If the bolt handleis not down all the way the firing pin hardly touches the primer. Secondly if the rear action bolt is too long it may bind the bolt causing it to strike weak. My first guess would be the bolt handle was not clear down.

John.......I would second the bolt handle not being down all the way. That is how they typically look. Richard

your primer pocket might need to be openned up to fully seat the primer and get the bolt to close/lock down
