Hey guys, it seems I cannot escape from the front stuffers. Got a friend who is brand new to the MZ game who recently picked up a used Rem 700ml. Those of you who know me, know I am pretty conversant with the Savage 10mlII and muzzleloaders in general but this rifle leaves me with a few questions. It is a blue/synthetic and the good news is that the bore and breechplug are mint. However I am seeing some things on this rifle that makes me wonder how much is factory and what has been swapped out. RIght now I am just trying to determine what I am dealing with. I think the breech plug that he has is the Remington factory one that allows one to use either 209 primers or #11 caps. I popped a few 209s and can see right away that this gun is gonna spit all over with those. Also I think the irons on this rifle are aftermarket, they are of the fiber optic type and do not seem to allow for windage adjustment. I took off the rear and there is only one screw holding it on, I think it is just a matter of time before it gets launched into parts unknown. I am familair with the sights that Remington put on the centerfire 700's for years, and this is not even close. I thought I had an extra set in the parts bin and was gonna see if the barrel contour would allow me to install them, but I must have swapped them off. Also this ramrod that came with the rifle is a real noodle and I suppose it could have came from anywhere. It may or may not be factory. My friend is on an extremely tight budget and I am doing this project for him pro bono. A scope and a 209 conversion is not an option for him at this time. I just need to get this thing up and running with a simple load so he can kill some deer. I think I can work with what I have for the time being, but I was hoping someone could post a picture showing me the factory breech plug, the factory sights and the factory ramrod so I can at least tell what I am dealing with. Thank you, Rman
